In fact, the Chantilly/Tiffany cat was earlier considered a longhair Burmese. However, research has proved that the Chantilly cat is a separate breed. Chantilly/Tiffany breeders and owners realized that the breed had to be preserved for its populations have never been large, whereas its beauty and personality were unique.

Chantilly Tiffany Cats - Appearance: To preserve the Chantilly/Tiffany cat, breeders plan their programs in accordance with the standard. In 1969, J. Robinson described the breed as a medium-sized cat of solid chocolate. The breed was known as the "Foreign Longhair."

Nowadays, breeders have expanded the color patterns of the breed. However, they aim at unique type and temperament of the Chantilly/Tiffany cat. Chantilly cats weigh about 8 lbs and are neither undersized, nor thin. The coat is one of the most striking characteristics of the breed. It is usually of rich color, silk in texture, and does not have a prominent undercoat. Chantilly/Tiffany cats have a broad muzzle with the ears set well apart. They are broad at the base and rounded at the tips.

The difference between sexes is not hard to notice. Males are usually larger than females. They may have a longer coat. Both males and females have a plumed tail. The oval medium-sized eyes are usually gold. The coat color may vary from chocolate, blue, to lilac in Chantilly/Tiffany cats.
